Knowledge Expert Building And Support

We believe that knowledge is the cornerstone of sustainable development. Our Knowledge Expert Building and Support initiative focuses on bridging the gap between knowledge creation and practical application. By fostering collaboration among academics, local communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders, we equip African communities with the expertise and tools needed to address the interlinked challenges of climate change, food security, and environmental conservation.

This initiative is built on four cornerstone programs:

1. Academics Advancing Community Action (ACAI)

Objective: To transform academic research into actionable community-based solutions.

  • We collaborate with universities and research institutions to translate scientific findings into practical, community-led initiatives.
  • Focus on empowering local communities with the knowledge and skills to implement climate-smart agricultural practices and conservation strategies.
  • Examples of success include workshops, climate adaptation training sessions, and community-driven pilot projects.
2. African Wise Councils Initiative (AWIC)

Objective: To integrate indigenous knowledge and wisdom into sustainable development practices.

  • Indigenous knowledge plays a crucial role in understanding climate patterns, resource management, and biodiversity conservation.
  • AWIC works to document, preserve, and apply traditional wisdom in partnership with elders, local leaders, and cultural custodians.
  • We create platforms where indigenous knowledge is respected and integrated with modern approaches to climate and food security challenges.
3. African Women in Agriculture Research and Environment (AWARE)

Objective: To promote gender inclusivity and empower women in leadership roles across agriculture, research, and environmental conservation.

  • AWARE supports women researchers, farmers, and community leaders through mentorship, training, and funding opportunities.
  • Advocates for gender-sensitive policies that address the unique challenges women face in agriculture and climate action.
  • Success stories include increasing female representation in research projects and enabling women-led agricultural cooperatives.
4. African Youth for the CLAN (AYCLAN)

Objective: To mobilize Africa’s youth to drive innovation and action in addressing climate, agri-food, and nature challenges.

  • AYCLAN fosters youth leadership through training programs, innovation labs, and networking opportunities.
  • Focuses on equipping young people with the tools to create scalable solutions, such as renewable energy systems, agroforestry, and digital tools for sustainable farming.
  • Youth forums and competitions have resulted in groundbreaking ideas and collaborations among the next generation of change-makers.
